An adult bookstore was held up Tuesday morning in Garden Grove and police are looking for the two men involved, one of whom struck the store's clerk with a handgun. The robbery was reported at a. Juan Centeno. One suspect walked in and inquired about a product in a display case while another suspect, armed with a handgun, went behind the counter and demanded money from the clerk. Although the clerk provided the armed man with the money, the suspect became violent and struck the clerk on the top of his head with the gun, Centeno said. It wasn't immediately clear if the clerk was taken to a hospital for his injuries.

City officials ordered Sunshine Gifts and Things closed Wednesday morning, in keeping with a vote by the City Council Tuesday night not to grant operating permits that the store was required to obtain under an ordinance that took effect in October. The council vote came at a meeting attended by about people, many of them connected with the anti-pornography group. Store opponents charged that it promotes crime and its collection of magazines and rental videos is obscene and harmful to customers. A few people spoke in favor of the store, however, saying it has a First Amendment right of freedom of expression to sell sexually explicit material.
